abortion bans in the US

If you don't know what is going on this is for you:

This post is going to be about :

" The abortion bans put out into the world "

women losing control of their body's choices.

What is going on?

Well, there are legislations being passed in Oklahoma, it is one of the most restrictive ones set yet. They are punishing those who get an abortion with up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $100,000. Whereas rapists only have a 5-year sentence. This means doctors and women face a longer period of time in jail or a harsher consequence than the rapist that put them into that situation. This law only makes the exception if the woman is in danger, but rape or incest is not a valid excuse for abortion.

What makes the idea of "pro-life" to this extent horrible?

Abortion is a constitutional right, and the fact that the punishment for this is much more grave than that of rape or incest is what makes this situation horrible. An international human rights law, that everyone in your community is supposed to follow states - 'Access to safe abortion is a matter of human rights '
* "Access to safe abortion services is a human right. Under international human rights law, everyone has a right to life, a right to health, and a right to be free from violence, discrimination, and torture or cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment
* " Decisions about your body are yours alone - this is what is known as bodily autonomy "

If a woman were to keep an unwanted pregnancy there are many graver issues caused to not only the mother but the child and family. For instance :
1. There is an increased risk of problems for not only the mother but the child as well. - As the pregnancy is unplanned the mother is not aware of the fact she has a child till past the 6-week mark most times. This means women aren't aware of the precautions they have to take for the health of their child. This causes unhealthy pregnancy which can lead to things like premature children.
2. Because they aren't aware of the child it happens that most women do not have the financial stability to take care of a child, this can lead to 3 things :
    1. The mother and family reach the line of poverty trying to raise an unplanned child
    2. The child is given to an orphanage because the mother cannot afford to take care of them. Where they are most times mistreated, creating a bad childhood for a child forced into this world. Which is unfair to both the mother and child.
    3. The parents are more likely to have to work 2-time jobs to survive, this is creating restrictions for the parents and a lack of attention that is needed for children.

What was the original right to an abortion and what is happening to it?

This was called "Roe v. Wade". The supreme court of the US issued a landmark ruling in which it decided that the Constitution of the United States guarantees a pregnant woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion, without excessive government restrictions.

Now, if Roe v. Wade is overturned which at this rate is predicted to happen this year, 26 states will quickly most likely ban abortion. This harms the woman because it is guaranteed that women will still try for an abortion, as they know they cannot take care of this child. This will lead to unsafe abortion which can potentially kill the mother. So this ban isn't pro-life, this ban is just targeting women victims, and those not financially stable, as they care more about an unborn child than that of an innocent human being.

Remember that it should always be your right to do what you want with your body, and you should always believe it should be. But make sure to stay safe and healthy in case you are in a situation where you have no choice.

Stay safe and take care.
